Monica M. Matthieu Ph.D., LCSW is Assistant Professor in the Saint Louis University School of Social Work. She teaches program evaluation and social work micro practice classes and is engaged in research on trauma and suicide with the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense.

Dr. Matthieu's community service, mentoring, and teaching focus on improving the access to and the quality of mental health services for veterans and military service members, their families and their communities. Prior to joining the faculty, she worked for 5 years as a clinical social worker and trauma therapist at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Readjustment Counseling Services' New Orleans Vet Center. Currently, she has a joint appointment at the St. Louis VA Healthcare System.
