The School of Social Work will welcome three new faculty members in the fall of 2013.

These new faculty members include:

 

Matthew Larson, PhD, MS
Assistant Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice

Dr. Larson earned his PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Arizona State University and his MS in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University. His research interests include antisocial behavior during the transition to adulthood; consequences of incarceration for relationships, families, and health; offender reentry and reintegration; and errors of justice.

 


Brandy R. Maynard, PhD, MSW
Assistant Professor of Social Work

Dr. Maynard earned her PhD in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and her MSW from the University of Michigan. She just completed a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin's Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk, located in the College of Education.

She also worked as a social worker for over 15 years in areas of children and family services in both clinical and administrative positions. She is an accomplished scholar, including authoring Campbell Systematic Reviews. Her current research interests include social work practice with at-risk youth and families, and etiology and developmental course of academic risk and externalizing behavior problems.

 


Stephen E. McMillin, PhD, MA
Assistant Professor of Social Work and Director of the Master of Social Work Program

Dr. McMillin earned his PhD in Social Service Administration and an MA in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago, and an MA in Public Policy and Administration with a focus on Health Care Services from Northwestern University.

He has over 10 years of social service experience including direct practice in a mental health setting and as a CEO and a marketing executive in health organizations serving older adults. His current research interests include evidence-based practice, management and policy in social work and health care organizations, and maternal and child health/family support.
