Speaker Series: Medicaid Expansion



On Friday, Jan. 25 beginning at 8:30 a.m., three experts will discuss "Medicaid Expansion-It's role, associated costs and ways to advocate for it."


-Sidney Watson, JD, Saint Louis University School of Law, professor of law

-Amy Blouin, SLU Social Work Alum and founder and executive director of the Missouri Budget Project

-Kevin Stamps, executive director at MO Medicaid Coalition

This event will be held at the Sinquefield Stateroom in Dubourg Hall, 221 N Grand Blvd. This event is open to the public including community organizations, partners, students, staff and faculty at Saint Louis University and other institutions. 


8:30-9 a.m. - Registration, Breakfast, and Networking

9-11 a.m. - Speakers
1) Sidney Watson- The ACA: what is the new law? What do we need to know about medicaid expansion, who would be left out and where they are? medicaid expansion's relationship to the exchanges.
2) Amy Blouin- How do we deal with the costs associated with the ACA and Medicaid expansion?
3) Kevin Stamps- A Call to Action: Advocating for Medicaid Expansion?

11-11:30 a.m. - Wrap up and Networking

The Sharing Responsibility, Improving Community Health Speaker series is an invigorating learning opportunity to hear prevalent issues within the community and nationwide directly from public health professionals with experience. It also represents a great opportunity to meet working Public Health professionals from the St. Louis area.
