Information Systems Laboratory

The
GIS lab provides services and instruction in the application of
mapping software and technology to research. The GIS Laboratory
also houses a smart classroom instructional environment, equipped
with eleven networked Pentium IV workstations, E and A1 photographic
quality plotters, compact-disk/digital-video-disc mastery equipment
and a common map layout environment. The GIS Laboratory also makes
available drafting and meeting facilities for its users.
Graduate Student Association

The Saint Louis University Graduate Student Association is a member institution of the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students (NAGPS). NAGPS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of graduate and professional student life in the United State of America. The GSA at SLU offers funding to graduate students for conference attendance and participation. For more information, and the minutes from the GSA meetings, check the GSA web site. Institutional
Review Board

The
IRB evaluates research projects for the purpose of legal rights
and protections of human subjects. While oral histories and interviews
are technically "exempt" categories, those students wishing
to employ such methods must still file a protocol with the IRB.
In response to the slow pace of approval, the university has created
a separate IRB for social sciences and humanities.
Instructional
Media Center

The
Instructional Media Center (IMC) is organized as a division under
Information Technology Services, and oversees all aspects of technology
for teaching. The IMC circulates equipment such as TV/VCRs, video
and power point projectors, slide and overhead projectors, and audio
components. At the IMC, students and faculty can use high resolution
digital scanners and printers, slide production gear, video and
audio editing equipment, and conference call facilities.

XII Memorial Library

The
main library of the university, located at 3650 Lindell Boulevard.
The library not only has a sizeable collection of books and journals,
but a wide range of information services and databases.
Reinert
Center for Teaching Excellence

The
CTE provides a range of services and training for the improvement
of classroom instruction, course development, and technology integration.
CTE staff also provide teaching portfolio retreats, skills workshops,
and a certificate in university teaching. The Technology and Learning
Laboratory includes state-of-the-art equipment for classroom instruction,
and schedules regular training sessions for faculty and graduate
instructors.
