Study Abroad in Italy and Italian Cultural Activities
SLU Affiliated Study Abroad Programs in Italy
The two following options are available to SLU students. As SLU Affiliated Study Abroad Programs, financial aid and scholarships would transfer. Scholarships are also available through each individual program, as well as from other organizations. Students are encouraged to apply early, as availability is limited. Scholarships are also available through the National Italian American Foundation (www.niaf.org).
- The Loyola University Rome Campus: SLU students can apply for a semester or a full academic year. The Campus is set in the beautiful capital of Italy, the center of Christianity and of the Roman Empire. This location, so rich in art, archaeology and history, is ideal for students who want to immerse themselves in the culture and language of Italy.
- Villa Nazareth in Rome: SLU students who have an outstanding G.P.A. and well above-average skills in Italian (average grade of A in Italian language courses) can apply for a semester in Villa Nazareth in Rome. This is a full-immersion experience. SLU students will live with Italian university students and attend courses at one of the Italian Universities in Rome.

The Italian Club
The Italian Club provides members with an opportunity to explore Italian and Italian-American culture through the organization of activities. These activities are both educational and social in that they seek to foster interest and appreciation for the culture and the societies of Italians and Italian-Americans. An important aspect of the Italian Club mission is to establish contacts with the Italian-American community of St. Louis.
This community outreach allows the membership to integrate themselves more fully into the dynamics of the city. The Italian Club intends to initiate and co-sponsor several activities, some geared toward its membership while others are open to the entire campus community.
All SLU undergraduate and graduate students interested in learning about Italian culture are eligible for membership; any person interested might be recognized as a member after attending at least one meeting or activity sponsored by the Club.
