Mission Statement
Mission of the Language Learning Center
In our global society, the acquisition of linguistic and cultural compentency provides the necessary ability to function independently, appropriately, and fluently outside of one's native culture. Part of Saint Louis University's broad mission falls in line with this necessity by maintaining and encouraging "programs which link the University and its resources to its local, national, and international communities". Likewise, the mission of the Language Learning Center at Saint Louis University is to enrich, enhance, and transform foreign language and cultural learning, teaching, and research at Saint Louis University. The LLC is committed to providing students and faculty with state-of-the-art technology resources and expert support.
The Language Learning Center will work towards this mission by:
- maintaining, updating, and evaluating the effectiveness of technology tools of all kinds in support of language learning and faculty research;
- aiding faculty members of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages in using technology to enhance their students' classroom experience;
- acquiring and maintaining collections of foreign media for both instruction and research; and
- fostering an academic environment where learning foreign languages and cultures is valued and encouraged.
