2011 Spanish and French Annual
Graduate and Undergraduate Student Symposium

The Saint Louis University Department of Modern & Classical Languages welcomed Sheri Spaine Long (PhD, UCLA) as the 2011 Symposium keynote speaker.  Sheri Spaine Long is a Professor of Spanish in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her fields of interest are broad and range from contemporary Spanish prose to Spanish language and culture, global literature, foreign language pedagogy and policy, and international education. She is the new editor of Hispania, and was previously the editor for Foreign Language Annals, two very widely read scholarly journals.  Her publications include seven co-authored college textbooks as well as over 40 scholarly articles, notes and reviews on literature, culture, and foreign language education.

As this year’s keynote speaker, Sheri presented: "Dialogs and Directions in the Foreign Language Profession”
