UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES SEEKING FACULTY INPUT The University Libraries are in a period of renewal. We are looking at Pius Library and the Medical Center Library in new and different ways. Our goal is to provide faculty, and students, with the facilities, resources, and services that you need in order for you to excel in your teaching, research, and scholarship. To achieve this goal, we need your help!! This SURVEY takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Your input is invaluable as we re-design the libraries to effectively serve the 21st century professor and student. Apply for VOICES Project Grant The VOICES Project announces the 2008 Sustainability Grants Program for Faculty. This is a merit-based program with awards from $1,000 to $4,000. These awards will be given this spring for innovative faculty-initiated activities that sustain the themes of the VOICES Project and meet certain criteria. For details, download the application packet from http://voices.slu.edu or contact Mary Beth Gallagher, Ph.D. at 977-2363 or gallagme@slu.edu for more information. Applicants interested in Ignatian pedagogy or community-based service learning might be interested in the Faculty Scholars Program, a new effort co-sponsored by the Reinert Center for Teaching Excellence and the VOICES Project. For more information contact Mark Pousson at 977-4214 or poussonj@slu.edu, or visit the Reinert Center for Teaching Excellence website at http://cte.slu.edu.

an annual group exhibition curated by art faculties from 14 The Opening
Reception was on March 15 at the Erin Maille is exhibiting an amazing triptych painting with three portraits of expressive faces and lively hats and also a subtle aquatint. Kathleen Harkins, a stunning large drypoint/collograph that is a serene portrait within a rich floral background. History Psychology Community Outreach, Partnerships, Media Events External Funding, Research Productivity Philosophy This project aims to advance toward an epistemology of science that covers the span from piecemeal experimental data-gathering to high-level abstract theorizing. It seeks to integrate perspectives from philosophical approaches to epistemology, methodological studies of theory confirmation, theories of statistical inference, and the study of science as an inherently social enterprise. The project attempts particularly to place an account of statistical evidence within a richer epistemological framework, and to use that framework to show how the accumulation of the results of tests of very specific experimental hypotheses can yield conclusions regarding the status of such highly general theories as the General Theory of Relativity.
