James H. Cone
"The Vocation of a Theologian"
James Cone reflects on his theological roots, education, and theological awakening as he discovered his theological voice and gained insight into the theologian’s vocation. The call to be a truth-teller about the human condition of injustice, he says, can be impeded in an environment where tenure and academic acceptance are primary goals. These goals can in fact tacitly approve of injustice and contribute to its perpetuation.
