1999 Bellarmine Lecture

Luke Timothy Johnson
"Koinonia: Diversity and Unity in Early Christianity"

How can all Christians, who belong to the most divided of world religions, all claim the New Testament as a norm while living out different versions of that norm? And why, despite its divisions, is Christianity still distinct among world religions? Johnson reviews three classic (mythical) responses and proposes a historical basis for the enigma.
