Theology Digest: Friday Seminars
Most Fridays during the academic year Theology Digest holds a seminar to discuss and consider a recent journal article for publication. The seminars are open to the public and meet in Adorjan Hall, Room 245. campus map.
The next seminar will be held on Friday, November 20 at noon.
We will be discussing the article:
KARL-HEINZ MENKE
“Joseph Ratzinger's Theology of Judaism”
Communio 38 (2009): 191–205
Pope Benedict is no adherent of the substitution thesis. On the contrary, he sees the universal salvation necessity of Christ bound up with the salvation universality of Israel—and not only because historically the Christ-covenant presupposes the Moses-covenant. The Jews are Christianity’s “elder brothers and sisters,” and are and will remain God’s people because the “gifts and call of God are irrevocable” (Rom 11:29).
Those interested in attending the seminar may e-mail Martha King.
