Administration: Dr. Edel is the Chairperson of the Baccalaureate
and Master's Programs at Saint Louis University School of Nursing.
Teaching: Dr. Edel has taught in the Gerontological Nursing
master's program since 1984. She teaches the nurse educator
practicum course.
Research: Research interests focus on the fields of gerontological nursing and nursing education. Implemented research topics include: (a) effect of gerontological nursing experiences on student perceptions of the elderly, (b) acute confusion in long term care, (c) mobility of homebound elderly, and (d) faculty preparation in gerontological nursing.
Professional and Scholarly Activities: Dr. Edel has long been active in both Sigma Theta Tau International and the American Nurses Association, Third District. She has chaired local planning committees for several state and regional conferences for both organizations.
