| The programs
offered through the Department of Counseling
and Family Therapy are accredited by the following
agencies: North Central Association of Colleges
and Universities, National Council for the Accreditation
of Teacher Education (NCATE), and the Missouri
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
(DESE).
The Master
of Arts in Counseling program options include
concentrations in either:
- Elementary or Secondary
School Counseling, or
- Human Development Counseling
A student may petition to
transfer into the Master
of Arts-Research program with the advisor's
recommendation after successful completion of
12 semester hours in the M.A. degree program.
The Certificate
in Marriage and Family Therapy program is
an interdisciplinary clinical program that enables
M.A. graduates of our program, as well as graduates
of other mental health master's level programs,
to increase their knowledge of marriage and
family therapy and their clinical skills conducting
therapy with couples or families.
The Doctor
of Philosophy in Counseling and Family Therapy
is intended to foster sensitivity both to family
contexts in working with individuals and to
personal development within family and other
social contexts.
