Maggi Carfield
Assistant Professor

Professor Carfield joined SLU LAW in 2011 after completing a visiting assistant professorship at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. Prior to teaching, Professor Carfield practiced public interest law and served as a law clerk for Chief Judge David R. Herndon, United States District Court, Southern District of Illinois. Her current research explores property law within the context of international development. She has conducted research in Haiti, South Africa, and Uganda.

Professor Carfield earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University with a double concentration in politics and modern culture and media. She graduated with a joint degree in law and social work from Washington University in St. Louis. The focus of her M.S.W. was community organizing and development. At the School of Law she was an executive notes editor for the Washington University Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif.
