Professor Douglas K. Rush

Professor Rush's article (co-authored by Dr. Hisako Matsuo), "Does Law School Curriculum Affect Bar Examination Passage? - An Empirical Analysis of Factors Which Were Related to Bar Examination Passage in the Years 2001-2006 at a Midwestern Law School," has been accepted for publication in the August 2007 issue of the Journal of Legal Education. The article won the first place award in the humanities division at Saint Louis University's Annual Research Symposium.

Professor McKenna's article, "The Normative Foundations of Trademark Law," has been selected by the International Trademark Association as the winner of the 2007 Ladas Memorial Award for writing excellence on the subject of trademarks and related matters. He will receive the award on April 28 at the INTA Gala at Chicago's Field Museum.

Professor Howard's article, "The Mode in the Middle: Recognizing a New Category of Speech Regulations for Modes of Expression," appeared in volume 14 of the UCLA Entertainment Law Review. His article, "Fundamental Rights versus Fundamental Wrongs: What Does the U.S. Constitution Say About State Regulation of Out of State Abortions?" appeared in volume 51 of the Saint Louis University Law Journal.

Professor Goldstein was invited to present his paper, "Elevating the Vice Presidency: The Leadership of Jimmy Carter," at the International Society of Political Psychology annual meeting in Portland, Oregon in July. He has also been invited to contribute essays on "Presidential Immunity" and "Admiralty Jurisdiction" in the Encyclopedia of the Supreme Court of the United States, published by Thomson. Goldstein (and co-authors John Attanasio and Norman Redlich) are revising Constitutional Law for a fifth edition to be published in 2008 by LexisNexis.

Professor Johnson has been named to a task force to revise the Hastings Center "Guidelines on the Termination of Life-Sustaining Treatment and Care of the Dying." These Guidelines, first published in 1987, have been cited in judicial opinions, including in Justice O'Connor's concurrence in the Cruzan case. The task force met in New York in January and will be working on the project over the next year.
