Many members of the faculty and staff have already moved in and we can’t wait until everyone can join us at our new home at Scott Hall. Of course, with a new space comes new protocol. The law school administration has been working with the University's Department of Public Safety, the City of St. Louis and the Partnership for Downtown St. Louis to ensure the security of law school students, faculty and staff.

Building Access First and foremost, you will need to have your University ID card visible at all times. Everyone will be required to show ID upon entrance and all visitors must sign in at the front desk. The building will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a security guard on location 24 hours a day. Students can access the building starting at 6 a.m. until the library closes (Monday – Friday), and on Saturday and Sunday during library hours by using your SLU ID.

Scott Hall Shuttle You can access Scott Hall from the main university and designated law school parking via a new shuttle. Hours and information can be found here. The shuttle will connect Scott Hall to the main University campus, Salus Center and the law school parking at Schnucks Culnaria and 1215 Olive St. surface lot. (Further information on parking can be found online.)

Downtown Partnership The Partnership for Downtown St. Louis has offered the services of the Downtown Guides that can escort students, faculty and staff should the need arise. They will be available from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. More information is available here. In addition, security cameras in the surrounding areas outside of the building will be monitored by both University DPS and the Partnership.  

Professor Marcia McCormick was quoted in the St. Louis Post Dispatch in an article about obesity accommodations for employees under new American Medical Association classifications.  

Health Law Practitioner-in-Residence, Donnelly, discussed the ramifications of Prop E on the people of Missouri in a St. Louis Business Journal article. 

Carroll's piece in The Student Appeal focused on the issue of ethics and electronic records.

McGraugh analyzed the Zimmerman verdict for KTVI and KSDK news channels. Days later, she returned to KSDK to discuss the possibility for federal charges against Zimmerman.

The new program will work to create a community for SLU LAW students, faculty and staff and encourage their patronage of downtown St. Louis businesses by offering monthly promotions.

Professor Watson was on Stay Tuned to participate in a discussion on healthcare and living longer.

Dean Emeritus and Professor Jeff Lewis was quoted in the National Law Journal, in his role as an ABA chairman, on bar passage rate standards for law schools.

Professor Joel Goldstein was quoted in the St. Louis Beacon about how the Supreme Court decision in Fisher v. University of Texas will affect affirmative action policies.

The Indiana Supreme Court will hear arguments this fall about a man convicted of using intimidating speech in reference to a judge. Professor Howard comments on why he believes the conviction to be unconstitutional in the article for Lawyers.com.

Professor John Ammann authored an op-ed in Missouri Lawyers Weekly on potential privacy issues with the new Missouri umeployment legislation.  

McCormick provided commentary on the recent court ruling that could end unpaid internships for the 550 KTRS Radio morning show.

Ryan commented on the benefits of her recent appointment to the American Bar Association’s Teaching Taxation Committee in an article for Missouri Lawyers Weekly (subscription required).

Hard-hat tours offering the media a sneak peek of the new SLU LAW building were covered by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, KSDK-TV Ch. 5, KMOX-AM 1120, Missouri Lawyers Weekly and the St. Louis Beacon.
