Parking Reminder and FAQs May 29, 2013 Student pre-registration for downtown parking starts today, May 29. This can be done online by going to myslu.slu.edu through June 30. If you are having issues with the system, please email Parking and Card Services with your parking preference, Banner ID, license plate number/state, vehicle year, make, model, body type and color. Faculty and staff are asked to pre-register in person at Parking and Card Services or via email through this Friday, May 31. More details can be found in our previous parking update. Due to the high volume of requests, Parking and Card Services will not reply with a confirmation email. If you email parking@slu.edu and do not receive any automated notification that it is undeliverable, it has been received. We realize parking is a major concern and many of you have questions regarding the parking policies. We have collected your questions and have shared the answers below. If you have any further questions please email parking@slu.edu. When it says reciprocal parking is available for Scott Hall permit holders, does that mean just premium parkers? Regarding preferred parking, is the permit specific to one location? What if I have Scott Building premium parking, which ends at 5:30, but will be in the building past that time (class, evening events)? Does SLU participate in the Transit Benefit Program or provide any other type of subsidy for those of us who are interested in taking the Metrolink into work? Will 3Ls have priority in registering for parking spaces inside the law building? Where will the handicapped parking be located? How will this be managed? Will there be spaces reserved for students inside the building? How are they assigned? What are the hours for the preferred parking? Who can park in Scott Hall? When will I know if I got the spot I wanted? How long do I have to pre-register? |

Downtown Parking Plan Announced May 24, 2013
With the move fast approaching, parking has been a hot topic for all of us. Our friends at Parking and Card Services have put together our parking plan with the help of St. Louis Parking that we are happy to share with you.
Parking for the 2013-2014 school year will be available in options similar to the other two SLU campuses. There will be three levels of daily parking along with an option for an evening permit.
The following locations and options are available:
![]()
Preferred parking will have the benefit of using a surface lot at 1215 Olive or the Ninth Street garage located just down Olive Street. Security will be provided at both locations during evening hours.
Pre-Registration Students – Pre-Registration will begin at noon on May 29 and will continue through June 30. Because we have limited number of Premium, Reserved and evening parking spaces, you will be notified if we will not be able to fulfill your request and at that time you will have the option of a preferred permit. Those with Premium and Reserved spaces will be notified when they can come to our office to select their parking space. Use the following instructions to complete on-line Pre-Registration:
Faculty/Staff – Pre-Registration can be done starting next week during regular office hours by coming to the Parking and Card Services office located in Room 33 of DuBourg Hall, or emailing your request to parking@slu.edu. Please be sure to put in the subject line “Scott Hall Pre-Registration.” In the body of the message, include your Banner ID, license plate number/state, vehicle year, make, model, body type and color.
Reciprocal Parking
Reciprocal parking will be available to all Scott Hall permit holders on both the Frost (Laclede Garage) and Medical campuses (Hickory West Garage). At this time we are not able to offer reciprocal parking to Frost and Med Campus permit holders on the Law School campus.
Transition Period
Parking contracts for the new spaces will begin on Aug. 1. During the month of July, parking inside the building will be available on a first come first serve basis, and priority will be given to the contractors working to complete our space. In lieu of building parking, you are able to park at the Ninth Street Garage or any available surface lot at a daily rate at your own expense during the month of July. Current permit holders will not be charged during the transition unless otherwise arranged with Parking and Card Services.
Shuttle Service
Arrangements are being made to provide a shuttle to Scott Hall and information regarding routes and times will be communicated in the near future.
As for the questions you may have, please understand we are addressing additional issues of security and weekend parking and will have that information to you once it is finalized. We appreciate your patience. Any additional questions may be directed to parking@slu.edu.
