What has been the most important part of your SLU LAW experience?

On the first day of Civil Procedure, Professor Cerminara handed out an obscure picture and asked us to identify what was in the picture. It took me forever to figure out what was in the image. Once its identity was finally revealed, I couldn’t see anything else. She analogized this with our studies and told us that in the beginning we would all struggle, but that soon we will all have that “Aha!” moment and everything will “click.” Remembering this helps me put things in perspective for those times when I feel like something just isn’t “clicking.”

What professional experiences/summer positions or clinical experience have you had?

Prior to coming to SLU, I worked for nearly six years in a clinical research lab that studied severe asthma, which is a serious problem in St. Louis. I was also selected for grand jury for three months in May 2010 for the City of St. Louis.

What extracurricular activities are you involved with?

I like to participate in as many community service opportunities as possible and have joined the Health Law Association, the Family Law Association, and the Women’s Law Students Association

What impresses you most about the School of Law?

I am most impressed by the vast number of clubs and associations at the law school. There is an opportunity for everyone to get involved in his/her specific interests and I think that’s important from the start of your legal career.

What would you tell a prospective student about the University?

The faculty and students are truly one of a kind. Both the students and professors provide an atmosphere that is nurturing and you really get the sense that everyone wants you to succeed.

What do you want to do after you graduate?

I would like to be part of the process that aims to maximize health outcomes for a greater number of individuals. I am specifically interested in ways to focus the allocation of healthcare resources into more cost-effective preventative strategies than late-term treatment.

What has impressed you about Saint Louis University?

I have been interested in health law for quite some time, so SLU immediately caught my eye. Beyond its rankings, SLU has a wonderful faculty and student body and they are ultimately the reason why I chose to attend. From the time I first showed interest in the school, they provided me with numerous opportunities to visit and learn more about the school. I know that I made the right decision in attending SLU because it is the right school for me, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s right down the road!

What has been your best experience at the School of Law?

Cooking dinner while volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. I didn’t think I’d be able to contribute much since I don’t know how to cook, but it ended up being a really fun and amazing community service opportunity. I liked seeing that my fellow students enjoyed taking time out of their busy days to help others that are less fortunate.

What is your favorite part about St. Louis?

The summers. Most people don’t really care for the hot and humid weather, but after spending 4 years living in Thailand, I’d rather take the dog days of summer than a chilly day in the fall.
