New Location, Same Mission
The Office of Admissions and Office of Communications recently wrapped production on a video introducing prospective law students to the “new” SLU LAW. Scott Hall serves as a stunning backdrop for the fast-paced video, which features alumni Joe Schlafly (’77) and Pippa Barrett (’93), students Grant Boyd, Tristin Cini and Kyra Short, and professors John Ammann (’84), Aaron Taylor and Sidney Watson (as well as cameo appearances from Marcia McCormick and Tom Stewart), and showcases all the distinct advantages the new building and location provide law students.
But it was important to highlight that even with all the changes occurring at the law school, the main tenets of a SLU LAW education have not altered – and that is a supportive and encouraging environment and its mission to educate lawyers to serve others.
As Watson sums up, “[There’s] something about the commitment to service and to others that infuses the whole law school that makes it a very special place. A place where we do talk about what does it mean to serve the greater good.”
The Office of Admissions is taking the video out on the road at various colleges and universities across the country. Alice Dickherber, assistant director of admissions at SLU LAW, plans to show it on her iPad right off the bat when meeting with prospective students, as well as include a link to it in all follow-up communications with them.
“The feedback I’ve received thus far has been great. The video gives a real sense of the law school’s mission and the supportive community SLU LAW creates, especially with the professors,” Dickherber said.
