Environmental and occupational health has
been identified in recent manpower reports as an area of
worldwide need. Professionals trained in toxic agent control,
industrial hygiene, and general environmental health top
the agenda. Job opportunities exist in local, state, and
federal agencies as well as the private sector. This concentration
focuses on the health consequences of environmental toxins,
how they can be identified in the work place and community,
how their risk to human health can be determined and communicated,
and how this risk can be managed to minimize its impact
on human health. The student will be able to choose electives
from this concentration and from other concentrations within
the School to better define a sub-area of In addition to
acquiring the specific knowledge base of environmental and
occupational health, the student will study the basics of
public health with opportunities for practicing oral and
written communiation skills.
