Mission of the Division of Biostatistics

In light of the Jesuit education philosophy, the Division of Biostatistics at the Saint Louis University School of Public Health strives to accomplish the following:

  1. Discover new knowledge and application that will lead to effective interventions to improve public health.
  2. Educate graduate students (masters and doctoral) in the disciplines of biostatistics and epidemiology. The Division maintains a strong commitment to rigorous preparation of students, with as emphasis on applications of biostatistics.
  3. Conduct collaborative research and teaching with the broad public health community. Faculty and staff in the Division maintain strong and productive relationships with state and local health departments, federal agencies, other universities, and many community-based organizations.
  4. Provide professional service to the biostatistic and related research communities. The Division places high value on working with many agencies and individuals, participating in peer review processes, and providing technical assistance on an array of issues.
