Other Master Programs
The Department of Health Management and
Policy offers one of the most well respected Master of
Health Administration (MHA) programs in the country. Founded
in 1947, the School’s MHA program was one of the first of
its kind in the United States. U.S. News & World Report
places it among the top MHA programs in the nation today.
Graduates of the MHA program are prepared
to assume management positions in health services
organizations throughout the world. The integration of
theory and practice in the program allows students to
develop technical and interpersonal skills essential to
successful leadership in health services. Students complete
15 core courses in health management and policy. They also
take five graduate electives in the School of Public Health
or in other schools of the University. In addition, students
take what they learn from the classroom into the field
during a 13-week internship under the direction of a senior
health care executive.
Each year, the program recruits sponsors
from more than six dozen diverse health care sites
nationwide including hospitals and health systems, managed
care organizations, consulting firms, long-term care
facilities, physician practices and government agencies.
The School’s MHA program is one of only
three MHA programs in Missouri that are fully accredited by
the Accrediting Commission on Education for Health Services
Administration.
Additional MHA degree options
include
- Master of Health Administration/BS in
Health Information Management
- Dual Master of Health Administration
and Juris Doctor degrees
- Dual Master of Health Administration
and Master of Business Administration degree
