Other MPH Options
Behavioral science and health education
focuses on the role played by individual and community
behavior in preventing chronic and communicable diseases.
Students who choose this concentration are prepared for
professional roles in health promotion and disease prevention
on local and national levels.
Students will have the knowledge and skills
to plan, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate behavior
change programs for improving health status.
Students also will learn how to assess the
health needs of communities and organizations. The National
Commission for Health Education Credentialing has specific
requirements for receipt of Certified Health Education
Specialist (CHES) status. This MPH concentration meets these
criteria and addresses the competencies required for CHES
certification.
