Other MPH Options
Epidemiology is the study of the spread,
prevention and control of disease in a community or a group of
persons. It includes the study of disease outcomes, medical
effectiveness, quality of care, cost effectiveness and the
performance of health care organizations.
The job market in epidemiology is strong and
growing. Students who earn this degree are prepared to carry
out epidemiologic activities in community health programs,
private sector organizations or academic settings.
Under this concentration, courses
emphasizing epidemiologic, statistical and computer methods
supplement the fundamental public health training that lies at
the core of the MPH program.
