Nationally recognized faculty
The
faculty of Saint Louis University School of Public Health have
active and extensive
research portfolios. Funding agencies for
recent projects include the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), the Health Resources and Services
Administration (HRSA), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development. Members of the SLU
SPH community receive hundreds of requests each year for expert
commentary in a wide variety of media outlets. Faculty members
are widely published in peer reviewed journals and many serve on
national boards and committees. As an example, the SPH is home
to the
National Public Health Leadership Development Network, which
provides a formal means for expanding
collaboration among academic and practice institute directors
and coordinators, leadership institute alumni, and
representatives of other federal, professional, and private
organizations.
“I would
encourage a student to come to SLU for the nationally and
internationally recognized researchers who work with and in the
community, and for the access to faculty – all faculty teach
courses.” (Darcy Scharff, PhD, Assistant Professor of Community
Health in Behavioral Science/Health Education)
