This month, the Missouri Department of Transportation will start an 18-month project at I-64/U.S. 40 and Tower Grove to improve the flow of traffic around I-64 and Kingshighway.

This project will include building a new interchange at Tower Grove and Boyle; building two new ramps; upgrading I-64 pavement between Kinghighway and Newstead; replacing the I-64 overpasses at Taylor, Newstead, Tower Grove and Boyle and several other improvements. The complete details of the project can be viewed online at the MoDOT website.

There will also be two full closures of I-64 scheduled in 2013 to remove the bridges over the interstate, with the first one tentatively scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 19-20.

There will be three narrowed lanes on I-64 in both directions between Kingshighway and Sarah and at night, during off-peak hours, there will be at least one lane open in each direction on the interstate.

There will be other short-term closures and updates as MoDOT continues through the project for the next year and a half.
