Inclusive Education: The role of Education in Promoting Equity in Social Institutions

The Cross Cultural Center (CCC) is excited to announce its annual Diversity Awareness Month occurring during the month of November. Our theme for this year is "Inclusive Education: The Role of Education in Promoting Equity in Social Institutions." During the month, the CCC is hosting events via its initiatives and programs such as I Am series, African American Male Scholars (AAMS) Initiative, and advised student organizations. Additionally, the CCC and its partners are hostings events which include "International Film Festival" (with Center for Global Citizenship) and "A Call to Intersectional Activism: The Bayard Rustin Approach" (with Free to be).

SLU's Diversity Awareness Month originally started in 2001 as a month of inter-religious and intercultural activities offered to the community in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks. Since then student organizations, departments, academic units work in tandem to sponsor a wide variety of programs and events designed to foster awareness and respect for social, cultural, religious, and ideological diversity.
