The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Program provides educational, service, leadership, and cultural experiences that enable scholarship recipients to develop their potential as advocates for positive social change. The scholarship is awarded annually to graduating high school students who exhibit solid academic and extracurricular backgrounds. Selections will be based on the student's ability to contribute to the cultural, ethnic, geographical, and socio-economic diversity of the University's student body.

The Cross Cultural Center and Retention and Enrollment Management are proud to announce that the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is now open to all current undergraduate Saint Louis University (SLU) students!
In keeping with Dr. King's legacy, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is a competitive award granted to undergraduate students who are committed to social justice, academic success, service, leadership and intentional cultural awareness experiences. Recipients of the scholarship, who will then be referred to as King Scholars, will engage with students, faculty and staff who are dedicated to promoting Dr. King's ideals, both at Saint Louis University and in the St. Louis Community. Additionally, King Scholars will participate in structured programs, including the annual MLK Legacy Day of Service, legacy retreat, community service projects and monthly informational sessions. Students from diverse and historically underrepresented populations in U.S. higher education are strongly encouraged to apply.
Please note: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship has an average award value of $3,000 per year, which will offset undergraduate tuition fees. Below are the requirements to apply:
• Be a current freshmen, sophomore, or junior SLU student
• Submit a completed Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Application, including scholarship essay, resume and two letters of recommendation
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Have a minimum of 24 credit hours by May 5, 2015**
• Be in good academic and disciplinary standing
