Biographical Information

Jerod has been involved with educational technology for the past ten years and joined the Center in September of 2011. He came to Saint Louis University from the University of Missouri, where he spent four years working with faculty and helping to build engaging, dynamic online classes. Prior to that, he worked for the Multimedia Services department at Ozarks Technical Community College, installing and managing classroom technology, and training instructors how to leverage that technology in their courses. Jerod also has a background in audio, video, and other multimedia production, which provides an excellent foundation for thinking about how to use multimedia objects to close the "distance" in distance education by providing a more human connection for online learners.

Earning his Master's in Educational Technology from the University of Missouri allowed him to combine his love of technology and his interest in teaching. Jerod has presented at the Association for Distance Education and Independent Learning conference on audio production and at the Missouri Distance Learning Association conference on mobile learning in field work. Although he began his career more focused on the technology side of education, he has recently migrated more to the pedagogical side of instruction, which is what drew him to work in the Center.
