Teaching Innovations

In order to achieve transformative learning, instructors must go beyond content delivery to engage students in a variety of learning experiences. This approach to teaching requires innovation of various kinds, from making assignments discovery-based (as in problem-based learning) to integrating learning technologies to moving toward more learner-centered pedagogical models. What constitutes "innovation" looks different for different people. But always, it involves deep reflection on what's working and what isn't, and an openness to experimentation and creative exploration of new methods.

In this section, we highlight some especially innovative teaching practices happening at Saint Louis University, particularly those taking place in our Learning Studio, as part of our Innovative Teaching Fellowship. Additionally, we provide details about our Try It! Summer Mini-Grants, which are intended to spur thoughtful and engaged experimentation with just one new pedagogical tool or strategy.

Higher purpose. Greater good.
