Become an American Studies Graduate Student
Apply online to the American Studies Department's M.A. and Ph.D. programs through the University's Graduate Admissions website. Along with other documents specified there, a writing sample of approximately 30 pages should be submitted by applicants. The department's annual application deadline is December 15th for students hoping to matriculate in the following fall semester.
To receive specific information about the department, please call us at 314.977.2911 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. American Studies faculty, staff, and current graduate students will be happy to speak with you and to answer your questions.
In addition to graduate assistantships as assigned by the American Studies Department, the University awards two fellowships on a competitive basis: the Diversity Fellowship and the Presidential Fellowship. Each fellowship carries a monthly stipend, 21 hours of tuition scholarship (3 for summer, 18 for the regular academic year), and health insurance for the length of the award. To be nominated for one of these awards by the department, the applicant must have all required materials submitted by the department's application deadline.
