Matt Carlson was a guest on St. Louis on the Air on Thursday, Nov. 21, a show on St. Louis Public Radio. He spoke about a recent documentary that explores the Jayson Blair scandal at the New York Times. 

The documentary, A FRAGILE TRUST: Plagiarism, Power, and Jayson Blair at the New York Times, premieres in St. Louis on Nov. 23 at the St. Louis International Film Festival at 1:30pm at the Plaza Frontenac Cinema

A Fragile Trust follows Blair, who at 27 was working as a full-time reporter for the nation's most prestigious newspaper. Blair shares his story detailing how he became the most infamous serial plagiarist of our time and how his actions rattled the world of journalism and nearly brought down the empire that is the New York Times. His story is an important chapter in the history of journalism that tackles issues of power, ethics, representation, race, and accountability in the mainstream media.

The documentary takes a deeper look into the mind of Blair and explores what caused him to make such damaging decisions while also examining the institutional dynamics inside the Times that may have led to his downfall.
