Eligibility Requirements for Clinical Practicum


Eligibility Requirements for Clinical Practicum include:

  • successful completion of Clinical Methods (a B or better)
  • a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better or permission of the Chair
  • 25 documented hours of clinical observation
  • demonstrated ability to behave in a professional manner consistent with the Code of Ethics of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • health and background clearance based on current TB screening and criminal background check
  • no record of serious, persistent, and unresolved concern in one or more of the essential functions that include certain inherent skills and attributes

Volunteer Opportunities

Undergraduate students are encouraged to seek out volunteer opportunities within the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic by contacting the Director of Clinical Education.  Opportunities exist within the clinic office, the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, and the Early Childhood Language/Literacy Center, as well as with supplemental programs such as Summer Camps and Continuing Education activities.
