Saint Louis University

Art History Events

The Art History Program hosts several events each year on campus. Current students, alumni and anyone with an interest in art are encouraged to join us!

Our Art History Speaker Series invites two scholars each year to Saint Louis University. Past speakers have included local, national and international scholars  and their discussions have covered topics numerous topics.

In the spring semester is the SLU Undergrad Art History Symposium. Here, students present individually-researched papers before the SLU community.

For more information about all events in the Department throughout the year, contact the Fine and Performing Arts Office.

Lucky Fortune: Mixed Media Work by Deborah Douglas
August 19 - September 17
opening reception Fiday, August 19  5-8pm

As a two-dimensional, mixed media artist, I work with a variety
of materials, including oil, enamel, watercolor, ink, graphite,
collage and printmaking. I have sought to develop a personal
vocabulary of imagery and mark making that speaks to my
interst in the balance of form and content.

Conceptually, my interests lie in the expansive issue of
domesticity: typically including references to food, sex,
relationships and to cultural and societal issues of gender and
sexual equality, etc.
