Res Philosophica is an international, quarterly journal of philosophy that publishes research in all areas of philosophy, historical and topical. Founded as The Modern Schoolman by Jesuit Scholastics in 1925, the journal is edited by members of the Philosophy Department at Saint Louis University. The journal is pluralistic, reflecting the Department, and publishes philosophical research from a wide range of perspectives.



Res Philosophica accepts submissions on both historical and topical issues in philosophy.

The journal does not normally accept full length articles longer than 12,000 words, or discussion articles longer than 4,000 words. Please be sure to read the instructions on how to prepare the manuscript for review at:

Res Philosophica is published four times a year in January, April, July and October issues. Subscriptions, single issue sales, online access, and permissions are managed on the journal's behalf by the Philosophy Documentation Center.

Online access includes access to all issues from volume 1 (1925) to the present.

Print subscriptions start with the first issue of the volume year. Please add $10 postage for all print subscriptions outside the U.S.
