As you may have heard, the Department of Sociology & Anthropology is undergoing an exciting period of growth and development.

Did you know that…

  • The department has hired nine new faculty members in the past four years?
  • Enrollment in departmental courses has nearly doubled in recent years?
  • The department recently sponsored a two-day workshop this Fall on Structural Equation Modeling by Dr. Ken Bollen, North Carolina University.
  • The department also sponsored Tomás Jiménez, Ph.D., from the department of sociology at Stanford University who discussed his recently released book Replenished Ethnicity: Mexican Americans Immigration and Identity in September.
  • Recent social events have included a Welcome Home celebration for returning/new students and a mid-term pizza party

Check back often for news about what students and faculty members have been up to, and how you can reconnect with the department and get more involved with us.
