Dual Degrees

JD/MA in Law and Sociology and Anthropology

The School of Law and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology offer a dual degree program (JD/MA).  This specialized program combines the J.D. and M.A. degrees, broadly focusing on the relationship between law and society.  The dual degree capitalizes on the advantages of legal training and social science research expertise.  Graduates of the JD/MA program are in demand in jobs requiring skill in gathering and analyzing information, interpreting legal issues and implementing administrative policy.

Students may earn both degrees in roughly four years, instead of the typical five years.  The savings in time and tuition is considerable.  Participants must meet the admission requirements for the Master's degree in Sociology and Anthropology as well as the admission requirements for the J.D. degree.

BA/MA in Sociology & Anthropology

The BA/MA program in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology allows high performing SLU undergraduate sociology and anthropology majors to earn both degrees in five years.  These BA/MA students advance their analytical skills by applying methodological skills to problem areas in the fields of sociology and anthropology.  Students in this program meet all requirements for the BA in sociology and anthropology and for a 33-hour MA.
