Saint Louis University

We are committed to offering students an exciting and challenging academic experience. In addition to regular coursework and fieldwork opportunities, we also offer students additional ways to participate in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. The following organizations are a great way for students to get to know faculty better, hang out with like-minded peers, have fun and stimulating discussions, and enhance their undergraduate experience at SLU!

Anthropology Club

The Anthropology Club was established by a group of Anthropology students and faculty interested in learning more about the application and potential careers in the field, as well as the relevance Anthropology has in many aspects of our studies and lives outside of the classroom. We seek to extend SLU's Oath of Inclusion, encouraging and promoting dialogue and understanding with the diverse community around us. All are welcome!  ACJS Constitution is available for review.

"To investigate humanity for the purpose of service."

Alpha Kappa Delta is the International Honor Society dedicated to furthering the education of students majoring in Sociology. The purpose of this society is to promote an interest in the study of sociology and intellectual activities that will lead to improvement in the human condition. Alpha Kappa Delta was established in 1920 at the University of Southern California. Today, there are many chapters of AKD in the United States and other countries, and we are pleased to have an AKD presence here at SLU.

If you qualify to join AKD, your membership entitles you to a one-year subscription to Sociological Inquiry, the official journal of the International Honor Society, a certificate of membership, and participation in a variety of national, regional and local activities of the society.

If you would like more information on AKD membership through our department, please contact Dr. Scott Harris or Dr. Kathryn Kuhn.
