Saint Louis University

The Mission Statement of the University forms the foundation for the first introductory 1000-level course in theology.

The selection of a second course on the 2000-level engages the student in a specific theological discipline in view of its "Catholic, Jesuit identity" and thereby prepares the student for a 3000-level course that applies "its intellectual and ethical heritage to work for the good of society as a whole." These 3000-level offerings pursue questions of justice, cultural diversity, inter-religious dialogue and applications of theology to a diversity of majors.

For theology majors the 4000-level courses are important. These 4000-level courses cultivate research skills as preparation for graduate school or provide assistance for students preparing for teaching in secondary schools or in various forms of ministry.

The 5000- and 6000-level courses serve two graduate programs, the MA in Theology and the PhD in Historical Theology.

Higher purpose. Greater good.
