Ph.D. Historical Theology
The final steps toward graduation are to complete a final format review with the Doctoral Candidacy Advisor, and to submit your dissertation to Pro Quest for digital archiving and publication of the abstract via Dissertation Abstracts International. At this time it is presumed all grades are complete, including an "IP" (In Progress) for the twelve dissertation hours as well as for any and all of the 0 hours for which the candidate may have registered.
After successful completion of the Public Defense, the candidate should contact the Doctoral Candidacy Advisor to arrange an appointment for the format review. After the required corrections are made for formatting, the candidate should submit the dissertation to Pro Quest; this must be done before degree conferral can be received. Please go to www.etdadmin.com/slu to begin the process.
During the Pro Quest submission process, you may order personal copies of your dissertation at that time via their website. You can also order individual copies through "University Bindery," a local division of Houchen Bindery (or through another bindery of your choosing).
Please note that the degree is conferred on the day that all requirements are met (all grades posted, the dissertation is accepted on Pro Quest, ballots submitted), not the day a student defends his or her dissertation.
