An undergraduate major in theology or religious studies is recommended but not required for admission to the MA program. Applicants with a strong background in the humanities and/or social sciences are also considered. The Department typically admits around 10 students each year distributed between its two tracks and offers competitive, two-year funding to our top applicants. Application requirements include: transcript(s), three letters of recommendation, GRE scores, resume, and a written statement indicating personal and academic goals. Interested students should apply at http://www.slu.edu/admission/graduate by January 1.
There are several forms of financial aid available to MA students. Students in both tracks are eligible for tuition scholarships. Students in the Research track will be considered for 1/2 or 1/4 Research Assistantships. Students in the Religious Education track will receive a 60% tuition discount from the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
