In today’s competitive funding climate, many sponsors are issuing funding opportunities as limited submission programs.  Limited submission opportunities restrict the number of proposals, nominations, or applications that a single institution can submit in a given funding cycle.

To ensure that all interested PIs have an equal opportunity to pursue these limited submission programs, the Division of Research Administration will administer an internal review and selection process prior to the sponsor (external) deadline according to the following schedule:

1.   PIs that are interested in submitting to a limited submission opportunity notify the ORDS office by sending an email        grants@slu.edu no later than 5 p.m. on the Internal Notification Date

2.   If feasible and logical, ORDS will encourage discussions between interested PIs/project teams to explore ways in which proposed projects might be combined into a collaborative proposal for submission.  If the proposed projects are not conducive to internal collaboration, ORDS will announce a subsequent deadline to submit proposal documentation for internal review.  Proposal documentation for internal review shall include:

a.    Title of Project and List of Key Personnel, Partnering Institutions, & Roles

b.    Brief Synopsis of Proposed Project (no longer than 1 page, single spaced)

c.    Other Information specific to funding program, as requested

3.   The Division of Research Administration will form an appropriate internal review committee that will determine which proposal may best represent SLU in the selected funding program.  PIs/project teams will be notified no later than 5 business days after the internal documentation deadline as to whether or not they have been selected to represent SLU.

4.   Selected PIs/project teams proceed with preparing proposals or other requested documentation and submit to eRS for review no later than 5 business days prior to agency deadline, or 10 business days prior to agency deadline if there are any proposed subawards.
