A New Face for the Specialty Council on Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy

The Doisy College of Health Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Ethel Frese, PT, DPT, CCS, Associate Professor, by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties to the Specialty Council on Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy. Mark Reinking, Ph.D., Chair of and Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training feels Dr. Frese will make a distinct addition, “Dr. Frese has an outstanding record of service to the profession of physical therapy, and she has much to contribute on the Specialty Council in the process of certifying specialists in cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy.”
In addition to sitting on the Council, Dr. Frese will be responsible for a position new to the Specialty Council. Previously, cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy specialists would renew their certification every 10 years. Recent refinement to the process requires that certified specialist maintain their certification throughout the 10 year period. Dr. Frese’s new position will oversee the interim reports from the specialists and help them transition to the newly restructured requirements. Dr. Frese is enthusiastic to be learning more about her upcoming role, “I think specialization is a good thing. Having worked with specialization, I have nothing but respect for the process and people involved. I am excited for the opportunity to expand my experience and learn new things."
