Alpha Eta Society Spring 2014 Service Project
The Doisy College of Health Sciences Alpha Eta Society, the National Scholarstic Honor Society for the Allied Health Professions, has started collecting for their Spring 2014 service project. This semester, they are collected dry pet food for the Pi-State Pet Food Pantry.
The Bi-State Pet Food Pantry, a 501(c)3 non-profit, is a St. Louis-based volunteer organization committed to keeping companion animals with their families during financially difficult times by providing pet food assistance. They strive to reduce the number of abandoned and unwanted pets in shelters and on the streets by providing nutritious pet food, as well as encouraging spay/neuter. Each month the Pantry distributes on average 12,000 pounds of pet food, treats and litter to over 170 families. Approximately 550 dogs and cats are helped each month. Their greatest need is dry dog or cat food.
Distribution will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2014 and volunteers will be needed.
Donations can be dropped off with Katie Serfas in Allied Health Building Suite 2020. The goal is to donate one ton, or 2,000 pounds of dry dog and cat food.
