Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Introduces SLU Farm Stand in the Garden
Beginning this summer, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics has moved their Farm Stand market from the Schlafly Farmers Market in Maplewood to the SLU Garden. Organized by the department’s Americorps VISTAs, the farm stand will include fresh produce, soaps, vinegars, spice blends and freshly baked bread.
The Farm Stand will also provide an opportunity for open house hours for the garden, making it a more accessible asset not only for the SLU community but for our neighbors. The Farm Stand is one of many ways in which the department is working to improve access to healthy, affordable, local food. The garden is located in a food desert and the department is committed to continuing to find ways to address issues of food insecurity in St. Louis.
The Farm Stand is held on Fridays from 4 to 6pm from now until October 31 in the SLU Garden, on the corner of Compton and Rutger. For more information, contact Marian Link at firstname.lastname@example.org or (314) 977-8523.
