Occupational Therapy at Saint Louis University featured in OT Practice Magazine

The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy's Jeanne Eichler, MOT, OTR/L, MT, and Sherry Muir, MOT, OTR/L, along with MOT-II students Jessica Hauert and Gretchen Mueller were featured in the Question & Answer section of OT Practice, the official magazine of The American Occupational Therapy Association Inc.

Eichler's group was featured for their occupational science disaster relief efforts in Moore and El Reno, Oklahoma. On May 20, an EF5 tornado struck Moore, causing 23 fatalities, 377 injuries and an estimated $2 billion in damage. Just 11 days later and 25 miles away, the widest tornado in recorded history hit the town of El Reno, causing eight fatalities, 151 injuries and $35 to $40 million in damages. Eichler assembled the group of SLU students and contacts from the University of Oklahoma to travel to the affected areas to provide help.

Eichler and group presented on their efforts at the Missouri Occupational Therapy Association Fall Conference at Saint Louis University on November 15 and 16. Eichler will co-present on the topic of occupational first aid at AOTA's Annual Conference & Expo in Baltimore.
