Occupational Therapy to Host Girls Getaway
The Saint Louis University Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice will host a girls’ getaway for mothers and daughters at the Manresa Retreat Center in St. Louis. The getaway will take place from 3pm on July 21 to noon on July 22.
The target population for daughters is high school aged and young adult to age 21, who is the sibling of a brother/sister that has a disability or approaching transition in life and looking to spend extra time with Mom. The cost of the event is $125 per pair; which will include overnight accommodations, two meals, and materials for activities.
The overarching goal of the getaway is to increase communication, relationship building, and memory making. Activities will include games, crafts, discussions, do-it-yourself spa treatments, and preparing meals together.
The OT Faculty Practice is the department’s practice group for offering occupational therapy services on site and in the community. The occupational therapy services available include pediatrics, geriatrics, rehabilitation and mental health. The mission if the Faculty Practice is to provide comprehensive, compassionate occupational therapy services to children, adults and their families.
