Pickleman's Hosts Fundraiser for the Health Resource Center
The Saint Louis University physician assistant students have organized a fundraiser for Monday August 25, at Pickleman's Gourmet Café at 3722 Laclede Ave, 63108, from 4:00 - 8:00pm. The fundraiser will support SLU's Health Resource Center, the student-run free health clinic. Pickleman's is donating 15% of all ticket sales to the Health Resource Extension clinic services. Here's how to participate:
1. Head over to Pickleman's Gourmet Café between 4pm and 8pm on Monday, August 25.
2. Tell the cashier that you are there to support the Health Resource Center.
3. Enjoy a delicious meal with meaning.
The PA students run the Tuesday Evening Clinic which is an extension clinic of the HRC, a student-operated free clinic that utilizes SLUCare physicians and provides a safe educational environment for students and a high-quality health center for patients. The HRC clinics provide free health care for the under-served and include services such as physical exams, vision screening, vaccinations, labs, nutritional counseling, physical therapy and social services. In addition to the Saturday morning HRC clinic that students of the SLU School of Medicine have run for more than 20 years, a monthly Tuesday Evening extension clinic was established in April 2014.
The mission of the HRC clinic is to serve the needs of the community and to educate patients. The goals of the Saint Louis University PA students are to provide temporary primary care services for the uninsured and to help meet the needs of the increasing number of patients. This open door clinic would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of the HRC volunteers and the generous donations and support of the SLU community.
