Dr. Sargeant has two main areas of scholarship. The first is exploring the role of spirituality in physical therapy. While support of the patient's spiritual care is accepted in many health care professions this is a relatively new area of interest for physical therapy. Strategies on how to address spiritual care in the education of physical therapists and in patient care is an exciting and expanding area of physical therapy. The second area of scholarship for Dr. Sargeant is educational pedagogy including the incorporation of teaching strategies in interprofessional practice and collaboration. In addition to scholarship on teaching strategies associated with education of interprofessional practitioners, Dr. Sargeant is involved in examining learning pedagogy related to enhanced opportunities for clinical education.
