Ruebling Named Interim Dean of Doisy College of Health Sciences

Irma Ruebling, P.T., M.A., current Director of Interprofessional Education has been named interim Dean of Doisy College of Health Sciences effective Sept. 1 announced Ellen Harshman, Ph.D., J.D., interim Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Ruebling has held leadership positions within the University including Director of Interprofessional Education since 2006; Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical therapy and athletic training from 1977-2006; and Instructor and Director of Clinical Education in the Program in Physical Therapy from 1971-1977. Prior to SLU, she practiced professionally as the Chief Physical Therapist and Staff Physical Therapist at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis.
She has also been given several awards at the University including the Program in Physical Therapy's Florence Kendal Service Award, the Women's Commission Woman of the Year and the Community and Family Medicine Innovation Award for Interprofessional Care of Underserved Populations. Ruebling has also been awarded the Missouri Physical Therapy Association's Helen Holzum Whealen Service Award and the Outstanding Service Award for service to the Profession.
A much-loved teacher, student mentor, faculty collaborator, prolific author and presenter, Ruebling has contributed more than 50 times to books, journals and poster presentations since 2000.
